What if death, was not the ending but rather the middle of your story?

That instead of looking at death as an ending to your book of life, it is this climactic moment before the next big new chapter?

If you are lucky, you may have had many big chapter moments in your life. Lucky in the sense, that your body is still here and getting to play another part on the stage of living but also because many people never dare themselves to die from a life that they have outgrown.

So many are terrified of that final chapter, that they try to stay as long as possible in the same old scenes, with the same characters living the same day over and over again.

Some people call this a fear of change.

Or for some, it almost seems impossible to change because the life you have always known couldn’t possibility ever really be different.

That you, could never really be different.

That in order for you to change, you would have to become something different.

And that difference, is unknown, unfamiliar and quite often feels like death.

For death is change.

Of course, not all change is something we choose.

That some of it is chosen by others and we are forced to experience that death without our consent.

Death chosen by others reminds us of our own fragility, of how powerless we truly are in the arms of our beloved.

However, when death does take our quivering hand, what comes next is really just a new part of our ever ending story.

Come with me now…

To a place your feet have not walked before but your soul has tread long ago.

When your body had not yet been crafted but the stardust mended all those loose threads in the broken galaxy to mold you.

Take a deep breath.

Another.

One more.

Allow your body to become the floor.

Wrap yourself tight, as if being tucked away deep within the cocoon before life.

Let your eyes close and peer into the darkness.

The dark.

Is the only thing.

The black night sky within your eyes.

Just you and the deep.

Breath.

No where to go.

Nothing to do.

But become the ground below you.

Each and every body part held.

If tears fall, let them.

If joy rises, welcome it.

If the great mystery beckons you, hold still.

Imagine for a moment, that the next few breaths are your last.

You will not experience any pain.

You will not suffer.

You will not fall.

But these next few moments are your last in this body, in this vessel, in this place.

Knowing this now.

Who has been your greatest love?

Take a breath.

Exhale.

What has been all your favorite moments in your life?
Let them pass you by, in front of you. One by one.

Take a breath.

Exhale.

What choice do you wish you would have made, knowing that this is your last?

Take a breath.

Exhale.

Imagine who is there with you, surrounding you, holding you.

Take a breath.

Exhale.

What is the last thing you want to hear from the ones you love?

Take a breath.

Exhale.

What is the last thing you want to say to those you have loved?

Speak it now.

Take your last breath.

Last exhale.

Let it all out.

Let it all be.

Let it all rest.

Now just in front of you, emerging from this darkness is rainbow colored sparkles.

All the colors of the universe, greeting you.

You look down and around but all you see is stardust.

You still feel like you.

The YOU, that has always existed.

Just in front of you, is this pulsating vortex of colors.

It is vast, open and beckoning you.

Everything in you moves towards it and the sound, is familiar.

As familiar, as the sound of your own heart.

Steady rhythm, on the beat.

You are now in the heart of the universe.

This heart knows you. Knows all of you.

And it loves you.

Loves YOU.

This heart beat gets louder and you begin to feel once again your own heart beating from your own chest.

Because you still have a chest and are still lying on the ground, in your home.

Take a deep breath.

Because your lungs still exist.

And so do you.

For not even death, can take away the essence, the everything, the most rare and precious love of who you are, right now.

Even when death beckons you dear one, trust that is not an ending.

For you are an eternal, ever evolving, never ending story.

And it seems that your current story, is just beginning.

Full Moon Prayer

If all that ever was,

is all that will ever be,

than everything,

that will,

should,

could,

or be.

Is truly up to me

to behold

not just all my beginnings

and endings

but the whole entire story.

Full Moon Musings

If those were the last moments, what did you discover? Who was at your bedside? What words did you want to hear? What words did you need to say? Take a moment to write out what has been gifted to you over your lifetime. Up to this point, what were your favorite moments and why? Allow death to come and sit with you by candlelight and watch you write it all out. When you are ready, you can offer your words to the flame, to give it back to the heart of the universe. “And so it is, blessed be.”
